Course Description Duration

Introduction to Automation (ITA)*

This course is a complete introduction to all things automation including automation concepts, basic variable speed drive (VSD) configuration, pneumatic theory and practicals, electrical relay theory and practicals, PLC theory and practicals (the electrical theory and practicals are the underlying knowledge required to understand PLC ladder diagram). This forms the first 3 days of the course, the last 2 days are spent programming and commissioning a conveyor TTIM training platform to operate to a scope of work.

PLC Technology

This course can be a 1 day, 2 day or 3 day course. The first day goes through all the same PLC theory and practicals as the Introduction to Automation (ITA) course and we can add the same programming and commissioning an actual TTIM training platform to a set scope of work, taking an extra 1 or 2 days dependant on participant experience. The underlying electrical principles behind PLC Ladder Diagram are assumed knowledge and all TTIM training platforms use pneumatic valve banks to operate pneumatic actuators, so an understanding of pneumatic principles is required.

3 days

PLC Intermediate (PLC Sequence Control)

This course begins by starting a PLC project from the beginning, including configuring IO, IO mapping, analogue scaling, tag arrays, alias tags, good project structure and looks at the 2 most common sequence control methods used by SAGE Engineers. Then we program and commission a TTIM training platform to complete a set scope of work using the 2 sequence methodologies.
It is recommended that participants complete either the SAGE ITA or PLC Technology and commissioning before enrolling in this course.

4 days

Advanced PLC (Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Function Block Diagram (FB) and Structured Text (ST)

This course looks at using the other 3 programming languages, Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Function Block Diagram (FB) and Structured Text (ST). Then we program and commission a TTIM training platform to complete a set scope of work using these programming languages.
It is recommended that participants complete the SAGE PLC Intermediate before enrolling in this course.

4 days

SCADA

This course starts by creating a SCADA project, setting up communications to a PLC, then work through common graphical object use and SCADA tag creation. Participants will need to modify a provided PLC program to suit new SCADA objects. The course culminates by creating and commissioning a SCADA interface to a TTIM training platform to a set scope of work.

Robot Operator

This course provides participants with an overview of a robot controller and pendant to enable them to perform basic tasks required to modify programs, reinstate a robot to operating condition, calibrate axis and backup / restore programs.

Robot Programmer

This course provides participants with an overview of a robot controller and pendant to enable them to perform basic tasks required to modify programs, reinstate a robot to operating condition, calibrate axis and backup / restore programs. The course culminates in creating and commissioning robot routines to a set scope of work.

2 days

HMI Introduction

 

This course allows participants to construct an HMI interface and modify PLC program to control one of our training platforms.
