Overview
The $62.6 million Southern Urban Reuse Project (SURP) is jointly funded by the SA and Federal Governments. It forms one element of the ‘Water Proofing the South’ strategy being led by the City of Onkaparinga.
Each year 1.6 billion litres of treated wastewater will be transferred from the Christies Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Aldinga Wastewater Treatment Plant where it will be stored. The wastewater will then be further treated before being provided to up to 8000 new homes in the south for use in dual reticulation systems, including toilet flushing and garden watering.
SAGE was engaged to complete works associated with four key areas of the project including the Christies Beach Main Control Cubicle, Aldinga Pumping Station, Aldinga Water Farm Pump Stations and Hypo building (dosing) and the SURP Main Control Panels. Working with multiple Lead Contractors and under challenging timeframes, SAGE allocated large Engineering, CAD and workshop resources to the project and has since been awarded further work with these lead contractors.
Solution
SAGE was engaged to complete works associated with four key areas of the project including:
Christies Beach Main Control Cubicle - SAGE built the Main Control Cubicle (MCC) for the pumping station which features variable speed drives and PLC controls. This project included CAD design, PLC programming and commissioning of the station with RTU connection to the Metro Telemetry System
Aldinga Pumping Station - this element of the project included CAD design, PLC programming and commissioning and connection of the Pumping Station to the Aldinga Water Farm via Elpro radios
Aldinga Water Farm pump stations and Hypo building (dosing)
SURP Control Panels - including CAD design, control panel construction, PLC and SCADA design as well as construction and commissioning of the screens.
